About the Ford Bronco Sport

With the Bronco Sport, Ford brings serious offroad performance to the compact SUV segment. A 4X4 drivetrain comes standard, and you have a choice of two EcoBoost® engines with plenty of grunt to get you over treacherous terrain. An extensive trim lineup and over 100 factory-backed individual accessories available, it’s easy to get a Bronco Sport configured exactly the way you want. Ford’s Built Wild™ Extreme Durability Testing put the Bronco Sport through seriously thorough offroad testing during development at the Johnson Valley desert in California. The result is a compact SUV that is off-road-focused in a way that you won’t find in the rest of the segment.

What the Critics Say

"Inside, the Bronco Sport boasts an attractive design and a plethora of popular features. The little ute also has an impressive amount of space and several neat innovations. While its wheelbase is shorter than the Escape, the baby Bronco has an upright seating position and a decent amount of rear-seat legroom." — Car and Driver

"However, this bite-size adventure-mobile provides ample appeal with thoughtful features, a fun design, and legitimate off-road capability. Our First Drive featured seriously gnarly away-from-pavement driving, and the Bronco Sport delivered performance we wouldn't expect from any stock crossover." — MotorTrend

What’s New For 2024

The Ford Bronco Sport receives a number of important updates for the 2024 model year. Most notable is the arrival of the retro-inspired Free Wheeling model, based on the classic appearance package made famous in the 1970s. Instantly recognizable, these models stand out with their retro-inspired body graphics, silver-painted grille, and 17-inch alloy wheels with red accents. Step inside the cabin to find a unique badge on the center console along with a variety of red accents throughout the interior. Other updates include the arrival of a new Black Appearance package for the Big Bend trim level along with two new exterior color choices - Desert Sand and Azure Gray. Last but not least, the previously available base model has been eliminated for the 2024 model year.

Ford Bronco Sport Features

Ford Bronco Sport Performance

Built Wild™ Performance

Every Bronco Sport comes with a robust 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4X4 system designed for offroad use. Standard with this is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost® engine that produces 181 horsepower, but buyers looking for a bit more have the option of a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® that makes 250 horsepower. The Badlands trim also has a more advanced 4X4 system, complete with a twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a locking differential. The Bronco Sport features a Terrain Management System with up to seven G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) modes, including the standard modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, and Sand. There is a maximum wading depth of 23.6 inches, and Trail Control™ adjusts throttle and braking response for use on trails. In a segment mostly devoted to grocery runs, the Bronco Sport does what you might not have realized was possible in a compact SUV.

Ford Bronco Sport Styling

Rugged Design

Just looking at the Bronco Sport, it is immediately obvious that it’s built for offroading. The styling is a mix of classic Bronco elements, like the encapsulated grille and round headlights, and modern functionality, like the slide-out working table, or the 400-watt inverter and liftgate floodlights. The low-load floor cargo area and roof rack make it easy to take your gear with you, and the Cargo Management System can be configured in five different ways. Ford sells a wide range of accessories, which can be ordered individually, or in one of four lifestyle bundles: Bike, Snow, Water, and Camping.

Ford Bronco Sport Interior

Functional Interior

Versatility is the Bronco Sport’s strength, and this carries on into the interior. The seats are comfortable, and a SYNC® 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration comes standard. But since Ford built the Bronco Sport for adventure, those seats are also made to be easily wiped down, and the control switches are silicone sealed. You can opt for a full rubber floor as well, which is much easier to clean than carpeting. Second-row headroom is exceptionally good, and while you might think a compact SUV wouldn’t be the best way to carry large or cumbersome cargo, two standing 27.5-inch-wheel mountain bikes will fit in the back, thanks to the available Yakima interior bike rack, which is a dealer-installed option.
